Buster Keaton and Me
I accompanied The General for the 11th time last friday, this is a hard hard film to play for, there is so much in this film, I played for love, a chase, victory, death, a hero, a train crash collapsing bridges, war, fire and a happy ending. all in 90 minutes, no stopping, improvising constantly and I love it. I love that I have a direct connection of the past and also the present, the moment. It feels like time travel. I know Buster well, his body takes on the expression that his face holds still. He knows his body and the world it inhabits. For the duration of the film, it is Buster and I and the audience. A good place.
